Things – September

It’s a warm day in September and I have things, updates, thoughts. To share with this little corner of the world. No one technically listens, but it helps me remember.

SCHOOL/THREE:
My little tiny baby human started PRESCHOOL last week. He loved it. Loved the crafts. Loved story time. I am so happy. He turns three in two weeks. Exactly half his life has been in weird Covid-world and that part makes me sad, but he makes me so happy. But real talk, time really does fly during a global pandemic/always.

ART:
I released a new art series a few weeks ago and it’s gotten a lot of wonderful support. I have so many big dreams and plans for my art career, and it feels good to have people acknowledge that what I do brings them joy. Speaking of art, I have two pieces hanging in the Natick Library Gallery until the end of October!

PLANTS:
I was a plant mom pre-pandemic, but I was a CRAZY plant mom mid-pandemic. At one point in time I had upwards of 50 plants in my care. After some recent simplifying (aka giving some to my sister, and some to the local Buy Nothing group) I now have 35 lovely plants hanging out with us, making our house more homey and full of life.

Thanks for listening to September Things!

Things – March

I have a bunch of random things I wanted to share with you, so here’s a quick round up!

LISTENING:
Maren Morris’ new album, GIRL! So good. So jammy. So driving with the windows down-y 🙂 Nate and I saw James Bay a few weeks ago, so I’ve been binging his music because the concert was incredible and I want to pretend that I am back there listening in real life.

READING:
I’m Fine and Neither are You by Camille Pagan, a memoir about motherhood, marriage, friendship & tragedy.

MAKING:
I am experimenting beyond embroidery thread and have been using dyed yarn to make my most recent hoop designs. I want to know what it means for embroidery art to not BE anything. For it not to look like something or have a purpose, but just to exist and make the world look more interesting.

EXPANDING:
My tattoo collection!! Last week I was tattooed by Alicia Thomas, an amazing artist in Boston. She gave me a permanent floral bouquet on my arm and I could not be more obsessed with it!

PLANNING:
A vacation! Nate and I are both turning 30 this year and are planning to take a weekend trip (at some point this year) to celebrate. Most likely sans baby, but we’ll see. We’re thinking Napa (a fave) or somewhere new. Where should we look into? Only prerequisites are warm weather and good food.

GOING:
To the woods. It has been FAR too long since I’ve spent significant time in the woods (for a few years, I was running or walking in the woods 3-4 days a week!!) Now that the weather doesn’t suck 24/7, I am GOING for it. Woods woods woods. It’ll all be walking now, with Julien in tow, but I have a feeling I might be running come fall. We hit up one of our faves last weekend, Rocky Narrows.

That’s all for March! I’ll probably be back in April with another THINGS post. – Stephanie
