Less than 48 hours in NYC

Nate and I took a super short trip to NYC last week. It was our first pandemonium trip sans kiddo (and only third trip since January 2020), so it was nice to get away and have some time to explore and eat good food. We saw Waitress on Broadway, which was incredible! New York is so busy and big and full of life. We also went to the MoMA, and I’m planning to share a separate post about that!

Things – September

It’s a warm day in September and I have things, updates, thoughts. To share with this little corner of the world. No one technically listens, but it helps me remember.

SCHOOL/THREE:
My little tiny baby human started PRESCHOOL last week. He loved it. Loved the crafts. Loved story time. I am so happy. He turns three in two weeks. Exactly half his life has been in weird Covid-world and that part makes me sad, but he makes me so happy. But real talk, time really does fly during a global pandemic/always.

ART:
I released a new art series a few weeks ago and it’s gotten a lot of wonderful support. I have so many big dreams and plans for my art career, and it feels good to have people acknowledge that what I do brings them joy. Speaking of art, I have two pieces hanging in the Natick Library Gallery until the end of October!

PLANTS:
I was a plant mom pre-pandemic, but I was a CRAZY plant mom mid-pandemic. At one point in time I had upwards of 50 plants in my care. After some recent simplifying (aka giving some to my sister, and some to the local Buy Nothing group) I now have 35 lovely plants hanging out with us, making our house more homey and full of life.

Thanks for listening to September Things!

Inspiration at the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum

I was in desperate need of creative inspiration, so I treated myself to a day at the Isabella Stuart Gardner museum in Boston. I had missed museums SO MUCH during the year of the pandemic, and though it is not over yet, it felt a little safer to be in public like this.

The museum has set times for entrance, and is big enough that you are never in crowds or groups inside. The interior is large and spacious and gorgeous.

I specifically love the Isabella because it reminds me of Europe. And for a good reason, Isabella Stuart Gardner was a big fan of Italy and the house was designed in that classic Italian architecture style.

I knew I would be seeing a lot of tile, arches and detailed architecture, and mixed textures and materials. All those things inspire me so much. They don’t necessarily come through in my artwork, but I can definitely feel a boost in my inspiration after visiting this lovely place. (Not to mention Isabella’s art collection is stunning!)

Wildly Colorful

It might be a new year, but I have the same goal as 2020. To create and provide wildly colorful art to people who love curating and living in spaces that feel cozy and fun for their hearts.

I had a great ‘first year’ (October 2019-October 2020) of putting my full energy into my art practice. 2021 will be more of the same. I rearranged my studio corner to be more functional (and more organized!) so that I can be inspired and productive in my space!

Also! I have added three new stickers to my shop! And have plans for more! Take a look at all the uplifting and colorful options here.

A Few Lake Days

We took a few days to visit the NH Lakes Region and stay at my family’s little cabin on a lake. We spent the days swimming and making easy meals and enjoying amazing sunsets.

This summer may be very different from years past, but I am still trying to find the good things in the little moments. What we *will* do this summer is more important than what we won’t do this summer. I have to remember that.

Happy summer, friends!
